I went on a walk today and felt a few crisp leaves crunch beneath my feet. Summer is almost gone, and autumn will be here before we know it.
You may have noticed how little I’ve been here on the blog these last few months. It wasn’t planned, at least not at first. Life simply got busy. I found myself hardly having a chance to sit with my family during the week and simply be with them. Other things at church or in the lives of friends took precedence over both my reading and writing. As I began to push off more and more of the things I was hoping to do for my little corner of the web, I decided to remove the burden entirely, take a short break from writing, and whole-heartedly enjoy the remaining weeks of summer.
I did enjoy them. Thoroughly. But I must say, I’m glad to be back.
The one year blog anniversary is right around the corner, and with it I’m having to make a few changes. Blogging this last year has been an incredible journey and I’m blown away by all the things I’ve learned, people I’ve met, and books I’ve been privileged to read. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it and plan on continuing for the forseeable future.
Hello there friends!
WINTER IS OVER. (Mostly…) Spring has finally sprung and with it busy schedules have returned, winter blues are fading, closets are being cleaned out, new goals getting set, and lots of dreaming about flowers beginning. You may have noticed things around here have been a little slow the last few weeks, and in short, the reason is simply because of the things I listed above… Spring has sprung, and I have not been able to keep up with all the happenings as much as I would’ve liked….
The good news is that spring means new beginnings, and that sounds simply marvelous. So after a week or so of scheduling, planning, eating chocolate, and prep work, I feel ready(ish) for this new season.
This has been in the works for several months now, and today I am so happy to finally share it with you!
I’ve been reading through countless articles from fellow bloggers and book reviewers as to their top or favorite books from this year. Not necessarily ones that were published this year, but ones they read and loved. I didn’t start reviewing books until late summer, and by that point had already made my way through a significant chunk of my book pile for the year, so some of the titles listed may not have reviews yet.
Hey there friends!
I’ve got some exciting news… *drumroll please*
“Let us cross over the river, and rest under the shade of the trees.”
About the book…
The letters of the American hero, Stonewall Jackson, to his wife, Anna. He is a respected leader in military history, and remembered for his death at such a young age. His story graces many history books, and other non-fiction works, but there is nothing quite so personal as the letters he wrote to his beloved bride.
There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.
-C. S. Lewis
