Prayer for Tim Challies

I had written and scheduled a blog post to release this morning. However, yesterday, I learned the tragic news that Tim Challies son, Nick, had unexpectedly passed away.

I have postponed releasing any more of my own content for the remainder of the week, and instead would like to ask you to join me in prayer for his family as they grieve the unimaginable.

Many of you know of Tim Challies. His blog provides us with encouraging and informative content every day. He is the reason why so many writers are out there, sharing light in a dark world through their books and on various corners of the web. He is the writer behind many writers, myself included.

As their family grieves an unimaginable loss, I have tried to find a few words to share, but in situations like these, there are few words.

Tim, Aileen, and family: you all are in my prayers. May the God of peace be with you and may you feel the love of brothers and sisters around the world, and the comfort of Christ in this time.

To anyone who knows the name Tim Challies, who has been encouraged by his writing, informed by his sharing, or like me, challenged by him to simply press on, please be in prayer for their family, for Nick’s friends, and their church.

And Lord Jesus, please come.

“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.’ And He who was seated on the throne said, ‘Behold, I am making all things new.’ Also He said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.'” -Revelation 21:3-5

  1. I was in shock when I read his post! I couldn’t believe my eyes. While we trust God, there are things we do not/can not understand with our human minds and this is one of them. I love the song sung by Babbie Mason which says, in part: God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
    So when you don’t understand
    When don’t see His plan
When you can’t trace His hand
    Trust His Heart

  2. Nov 22nd marks the three year anniversary of my little brothers death. When I heard about the Challies family my heart broke for them.
Thank you for remind us to keep them in prayer Madeline! It’s things like your post that God uses to comfort hurting people with.
    I will pray for them.
    Peace in God,
    Audrey 💛
