{Spring 2019} An Update & A Few Announcements

Hello there friends!

WINTER IS OVER. (Mostly…) Spring has finally sprung and with it busy schedules have returned, winter blues are fading, closets are being cleaned out, new goals getting set, and lots of dreaming about flowers beginning. You may have noticed things around here have been a little slow the last few weeks, and in short, the reason is simply because of the things I listed above… Spring has sprung, and I have not been able to keep up with all the happenings as much as I would’ve liked….

The good news is that spring means new beginnings, and that sounds simply marvelous. So after a week or so of scheduling, planning, eating chocolate, and prep work, I feel ready(ish) for this new season.

A few changes…

The first thing that is going to be a little different here on out, is that weekly posts will no longer be on Wednesday’s. Friday is the new weekly post day. This is due simply to changes in my weekly schedule and when I am able to work on writing.

Second, are the small changes I’m making in what I post. In the past I have done mostly reviews, with occasional interviews and articles. I introduced the Book of the Month in December, and that will continue. This spring I will be adding a monthly recap of other books I’ve read during the month, and a few brief thoughts on those. I will also be including more interviews and articles, as many seem to enjoy those. Book reviews will most definitely continue, but in addition to some other fun reading related material.

An update…

It’s funny, because I normally gravitate towards fiction, but this year I have been devouring several non-fiction books and have thoroughly enjoyed each of them. Reviews for two of my favorites can be found here and here.

This winter I had the privilege of interviewing Robin Jones Gunn and Ray Rhodes Jr. Both of these were a delight!! This spring and summer, S. D. Smith, Glenna Marshall, and more will be stopping by to talk about how stories change us and what we can do to make sure they do so in a positive way. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for those coming up soon.

I discovered Audible this winter. Ha. What a fantabulous little app. I’m still trying to figure out what took me so long to download it…

Coming up…

The summer book club kicks off in just a few short weeks! I am SO excited about this, and really hope you will join as we read through The Pilgrim’s Progress this summer!

Discussion questions, suggested read-along schedule, fun activities, memory verses, literary journal pages (more on this coming soon…), and more will be ready for you to print and use. All you have to do is buy the book, invite some friends over, and make something yummy to enjoy! It’s as easy as that, and will no doubt provide hours of friendship cultivation, memory making, character building, and pure fun. You do not want to miss out.

If you follow the shelf on Instagram (@the_corner_shelf) you’ll have seen several updates regarding the summer book club recently. You can find them using the hashtag #thecornershelfbookclub. My original blog post where I explain what the club is and why I started it can be found here. The exciting thing about this book club, is that everything you need to start one in your own house will be in a pretty printable package found here on the blog next week. Also, did I mention it is FREE?

In closing…

Thank you dear friends for all of your support and encouragement. It means the world to me. In just a few short months we’ll hit the one year anniversary of the blog’s beginning, and looking back is just crazy. I’ve learned and enjoyed so many new things, and am humbled by all the Lord is doing.

I’d LOVE to hear from you! If you have suggestions, questions, thoughts, or ideas feel free to shoot me an email!

Continue to pray for God to be glorified in all that is said and done here, and that many might come to know the best Story, and seek to follow the King who saves.

Thank you, dear friends!

Here’s to spring, and new beginnings.

Soli Deo Gloria,

-Madelyn
